10 Extraordinary Child Prodigies

An interesting article on 10 extraordinary child prodigies of our times.
:D Muzica era pe-atunci ce e internetul acum, I was addicted. :D

My roomate always listened to music as well, but he had a very strange habit: he would listen to the music at unusually fast speeds. Some 30-50% faster than normal. Usually, he would ramp the speed up over time. He said it helped him type and code faster.
I was skeptical (and irritated), but when I tried it, it seemed to have the same effect on me. I don’t know if it made us any SMARTER, but it made it easier for us to program complex programs more efficiently for longer periods of time.
Frankly, the technique saved my grade in some of the more difficult programming classes.
I wonder if the effects are related?

As incerca si asta! :D
Steal This Film (II) – 2007
- The film examines the technological and cultural aspects of the copyright wars, and the cultural and economic implications of the internet. It includes an exploration of Mark Getty’s infamous statement that ‘intellectual property is the oil of the 21st century’.
- It draws parallels between the impact of the printing press and the internet in terms of making information accessible beyond a privileged group or “controllers”. The argument is made that the decentralised nature of the internet makes the enforcement of conventional copyright impossible.
- The internet turns consumers into producers, by way of consumer generated content, leading to the sharing, mashup and creation of content not motivated by financial gains. This has fundamental implications for market based media companies.
- The documentary asks “How will society change” and states “This is the Future – And it has nothing to do with your bank balance“. (wiki)

TV vs. Reality
So, you listen to me. Listen to me: Television is not the truth! Television is a God-damned amusement park! Television is a circus, a carnival, a traveling troupe of acrobats, storytellers, dancers, singers, jugglers, side-show freaks, lion tamers, and football players. We’re in the boredom-killing business! So if you want the truth… Go to God! Go to your gurus! Go to yourselves! Because that’s the only place you’re ever going to find any real truth.
